Glass Painting 101 (1 Day or 3-Week Saturday Series)
Join us on three special Saturday sessions for a series of very special fused glass painting workshops with Hillsborough glass artist Alvaro Maury! This class is designed for both those completely new to glass painting, as well as artists looking to add further skills to their tool-belts. Don’t miss out on this special event!
This class has two enrollment options:
One-Day (Saturday March 8th or 15th 10AM-1PM )- $80
This enrollment option is for one day only, and includes 3 hours of instruction on black and white line painting on specially prepared glass using traditional enamel paint techniques using water/guar gum. Black and white images with dark lines such as linocut print designs work best, but if unsure, reach out and we'll help you. (see examples below). After painting, your piece will be fired in the kiln, and will be ready for pick up in about a week. Participants choosing the 3-week series will add on to their piece during the subsequent sessions.
3-Week Series (Saturday March 8th, 15th, and 22nd 10AM-1PM)- $225
Class two of the workshop series will build on the skills used in the first day of the March 8th workshop and will also include matting, highlighting, and Sgraffito techniques. Class three of the series will focus on additional matting, and highlighting detail as well as traditional silver stain techniques to achieve a rich yellow shading color.
Further classes and more advanced subjects could be planned depending on students' interest.
All necessary materials for your project are included in the workshop price for both above options.
